STORY OF A BROTHER AND SISTER

Amit was born on 16th February 1996 and Deepti was born on 8th May 1999 as the second child to Mr. Reji and Mrs. Kanaka . He also had another younger brother. Reji and family were idol worshippers. After the birth of their third child, the mother became mentally ill. They tried to give her best possible medical treatment but since Reji was a rickshaw puller with very low income; could not continue the medicines for long. Her condition was not changing which made the father an alcoholic.

When the youngest child was seven months old, the mother left the house and no one could find where she has gone or what happened to her. The family's condition was more miserable with this incident. No one was there to give proper care to the children and the father did not have a permanent income to meet the needs.

Mrs. Rose, the grand mother of these kids, is a believer. She requested us to help them at this situation. Our financial situation was not good enough to adopt all the three kids. So we decided to adopt Amit and his sister Deepti. No one else came forward to take care of the third child.

Reji used to feed the youngest child early morning and locked him in the house to go for work. He comes back in the evening drunk to find the hungry, scared little one crying for food and care. But after the whole days work, the tired and drunk father didn't want to spend much time with the child. He used to get angry when the child demanded his attention and cried aloud. This went on for almost eight months and by now the father desperately wanted to get rid of the child.

One day evening after work, Reji came home and saw the child crying aloud which made him so angry. He then strangled and suffocated the little child to death. After committing the murder he hid the body in the near by bush. Within few days the neighbors sensed that the child was missing and went in search for him. They found out the body of the child and informed the police. The police arrested Reji finding guilty of the murder. Now he is spending his life term in the central jail.

We thank God for bringing Amit and Deepti to us. If they were living with the father the fate of these kids also would have been disastrous. Now Amit is studying in 4th grade and not knowing what happened to his father or younger brother. Deepti is in 2nd grade and both are very good in studies and the favorite children of their teachers. Every one loves them. God changed their lives completely. They memorize many Bible verses and help other kids in their lessons. They are also good in games and arts. We thank God for using us to shape these children for a good future and for the Glory of God.
